It's too bad, really, that so many people are finding it so easy and so dull when there's an incredibly tense, difficult, and satisfying game sitting right there that they already paid for.

And while you may be bored with the game you are playing, I am certainly not bored with the one I'm playing. In the end, the game on easy is easier, and on hard is harder. That being said, I still don't think it's entirely fair to blame the game for focusing more on the log delivery side of things, when that is the core mechanic of the game, rather than the exploration side of things that has been left more to the mod community to fulfill. I like a different type of challenge than you do, obviously, and I am neither more right nor more wrong for that and neither are you. My game is the log delivery one, yours is the exploring one. Now as to the "boredom/too easy" aspect - I think the breakdown in communication we're having is down to this game being two different games, really.

That actually makes sense from a programming standpoint, because new players will like an easier overall experience to dive into, while the old-school hardcore players will want it ramped up. Okay, so as far as I can tell the answer to the difficulty question is that hardcore now is actually harder than hardcore then, while casual is easier now than casual was then. One more go at it, see if I can phrase it elegantly enough.
